The staff at Majik House have never been the type to shy away from cake! So with the chance to raise some money along the way we slipped into our pinnys and got out our Mary Berry cookbooks and got baking!
We decided not to go as big as last year when we successfully baked Cumbria’s biggest chocolate cake, and decided to make this year’s bake off a networking event.
Majik House is based on Kirkby Lonsdale Business Park, which has grown over the years with a real diverse mix of companies. From Bathroom specialists, interior designers, land agents and even a doggy day care company. As well as some very generous members of the public we were all able to come together to support this essential charity.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Macmillan invite people all over the UK to host their own coffee mornings and donations on the day are made to Macmillan.
In 2015, £25 million was raised from the initiative and this year Macmillan are aiming to raise even more.
The first ever Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective, they did it again the next year – only this time nationally. Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £138 million for the Macmillan charity.
It’s a devastating fact that, at some point in our lives, one in two of us will be faced with cancer. Everyone here at the Majik House has been touched by this terrible disease, so now we’re supporting one of the UK’s largest fundraising and awareness campaigns.
This year we raised over £200 for the great cause, thank you for everyone who came to join us for coffee and a slice of cake, see you all next year!
