Now in its fourth year, the 3 day event is being held at the Rheged Centre, penrith on the 16th, 17th & 18th March 2018

The Home and Garden Show showcases the best that cumbria has to offer.

Cumbria is well known for its creative heritage, beautiful houses and gardens as well as garden designers with a national reputation. The show celebrates design, craftsmanship and innovation from across the north of England and Southern Scotland.

The weekend includes talks and demonstrations from leading regional experts. Majik House will be delivering a free talk entitled ‘Voice Controlled Homes… Gimmick or the future’. Delivered by company directors Tim Burrow and Jit Mistry on Saturday 17th March.

Voice control platforms are taking the smart home industry by storm. Home light fixtures, thermostats, speakers and more recently complete smart home technology systems are integrating the technology to provide consumers with a hand–free mode of managing the electronic devices in their homes. Sounds easy, but voice control is not perfect, it’s not for everyone, and it’s not the be all and end all of home control, with questions to answer such as, ‘ Is there a security risk?’, ‘Is it practical for all purposes?’, ‘Should it replace your remote or phone app?’. These and many other questions will be discussed in this unique talk.
